eXcessica is always accepting submissions in all genres and heat levels. BUT… Just because we like to push the boundaries doesn’t mean we don’t want an actual story with our erotica. Excessive sex is great (we like excess!) so sex in every chapter is fine—but sex without any semblance of a plot is not. We are looking for fully developed characters, plots and settings. eXcessica is not a vanity publisher, so we will not charge you to publish with us. However, because we are a partnership rather than a standard publisher (who have editors and cover artists on staff) we require that you have your own manuscript edited and provide your own cover art. This means that manuscripts sent to us as submissions are expected to be free of all mechanical errors in punctuation, grammar and spelling. With eXcessica there are no contracts, and no need for them. There’s just a simple agreement giving eXcessica non-exclusive right to publish your work, and we keep nothing. That’s right, we take no percentage of your sale. All sales are yours. You will be asked to sign a general electronic release form that says the work is yours and you give the partnership the right to sell it—and that’s all. All rights are non-exclusive—the work is yours to do with as you wish, and you can pull it from our “shelves” at any time. We will accept previously published works if you hold exclusive rights (and have proof of such.)
Heat Levels eXcess 1: Story with a focus on plot and, if a romance, a happily ever after (or happy for now) ending. May contain sexual content and strong language, or may be a “sweet” romance. Check the “warnings” on the book page! eXcess 2: Story with a well-written plot, strong language and sexual content and, if a romance, not necessarily a happily ever after or happy-for-now ending. eXcess 3: Strong, detailed sexual language and content, explicit and descriptive plot, some objectionable material (threesomes, toys, crossdressing, bisexual, transgender, etc.) So pretty much, almost anything goes. eXcess 4: Seriously taboo. This is the controversial category, and will contain things like incest, elements of non-consent, age-play, etc.
Boundaries Well we had to have some boundaries! Underage sex—a controversial topic to say the least. Since we are based in the U.S. and considering the current political climate, we have to say that underage is defined as someone under the age of 18. So no descriptive sexual situations with underage persons will be allowed—however, allusions and reference to it happening in the past is okay. Rape—this is a soft boundary. We do accept some non-consent work. Submit it and we’ll see! Necrophilia and bestiality—no surprise, the dead folks and the earth-animals are still off-limits, folks. Of course, this doesn’t include the UNdead (vampires) or fantastical animals (shapeshifters, werewolves, etc.)
A NOTE ON COVER ART: If your mss is accepted (allow 4-6 weeks) you will be asked to either provide cover art (with copyright clearance—you can use stock photos or use photos under a creative commons license) or complete our cover art request form. Most of our authors are extremely creative individuals, and not just as writers, so they enjoy the freedom of doing their own cover art. If you aren’t the artistic type (outside of words, of course!) we do have other authors who will work with you to develop your cover.
So to be clear, don’t worry! If needed, we do offer resources for editing and cover art production at no monetary cost to you.
Lengths Short Shorts: Under 3K Shorts: 3-7K Stories: 7-15K Novellas: 15-35K Novels: 35-75K Super Novels: 75K +
You receive all profits, payable to you via Paypal. You must have a Paypal account in order to publish with eXcessica. (And if you want to remain anonymous, you need to upgrade from a premiere to a business account—there is no cost to do so.) We are a partnership, not a publisher, so eXcessica keeps none of your proceeds. If the book sells from the eXcessica site directly, you will keep the full published price (minus any Paypal fees). If the book sells from another online bookseller (Fictionwise, etc.) you will receive the royalties based on the percentage that particular bookseller deducts for itself. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at questions@eXcessica.com. |

Authors, are you interested in publishing? eXcessica is something entirely new. We are not a traditional e-publisher, instead we are a collaborative formed to remove the middleman and bring you, the reader, some of the best in truly hot erotica. eXcessica publishes everything from sweet to scorching, including the taboo stuff other e-publishers won't touch. eXcessica authors cross the spectrum from award-winning professionals to fresh, new voices. Some are here because they want complete control over their work. Others are here because they want a larger cut of their sales proceeds. Still others, because their material is considered too edgy for traditional e-publishers. By having each author take responsibility for their own editing and cover art, eXcessica is able to make its overhead expenses negligible. eXcessica authors know that sloppy work reflects poorly on us all and that success hinges on everyone doing their very best. (Note: eXcessica will not release anything that hasn’t undergone extensive peer editing, so readers can be ensured of work quality!) We invite you to step inside the minds of our eXcessica authors. We promise you a memorable experience! Visit us: www.eXcessica.com
